Joe Harris Saunders, 63, of the 900 block of Mt. Pleasant Road, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 1995, in a Virginia Beach hospital.
Mr. Saunders was born in Montgomery County, N.C., and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Saunders. He was a member of Doric Masonic Lodge and the Well Drillers Association of Virginia. He was the owner and operator of Joe Saunders Well Drilling Company.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Hamilton Saunders; his two daughters, Stephanie and Becky, both of Chesapeake; his son, Richard, and his wife, Pam, of Currituck, N.C.; two granddaughters, Amy and Tasha; and his brother, Jimmy Saunders of Gastonia, N.C.
The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, 1995, in the chapel of Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, by the Rev. Al Forsythe. Interment will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park with Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
