A Chesapeake man is accused of fatally stabbing his 19-year-old son in the chest during an argument Sunday night.
Police spokesman Tony Torres said the stabbing occurred in the 2200 block of Christian Ave. Police were called there at 10:45 p.m. after receiving a domestic-disturbance report. When they arrived at the intersection of Christian Avenue and Keel Street, they found the son, Donnie Wingfield, with a stab wound to the left side of his chest.
Wingfield, of the 1900 block of Picadilly St. in Norfolk, was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:48 p.m.
His father, Gene Wingfield, 41, of the 900 block of Keel St., was charged with murder and was being held in the Chesapeake City Jail, Torres said.
Police did not say how the argument started.
