One of the most ridiculous initiatives of the Clinton administration has been mandatory AIDS-awareness training. Rather than having anything to do with prevention of disease, this is nothing more than an attempt to brainwash government employees and military personnel to the idea that homosexual behavior is just a normal good thing - just like apple pie and grandma, you know.
I usually think Sen. Jesse Helms is zany, but his legislation to prohibit mandatory AIDS training (passed by the Senate 88-0) was long overdue. Most people know how you get AIDS, just like they know how you get cirrhosis of the liver and lung cancer. But we don't see mandatory-training programs related to the dangers of alcoholism and tobacco use.
Tolerance is one thing. Being forced to approve of deviant behavior is a far different matter.
