Ronald Porter Merritt, 65, of the 3500 block of Elmore Place, died Aug. 14, 1995, in a Norfolk hospital.
He was a retired technician with the civil service for 15 years and was a native of Enid, Okla. He was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church and a member of the Fleet Reserve Association. He was also retired from the U.S Navy after 20 years as a fire control chief, and was a veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Molly J. Merritt; two sons, Steven N. Merritt of Chesapeake and John R. Merritt of San Diego, Calif.; one brother, Richard Merritt of Texas; and one grandchild, Alexandria Merritt of California.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Peter McLewin. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Ingleside Benevolent Fund, c/o Ingleside Baptist Church.
