Joseph Malcolm Butler, 62, of the 300 block of Old Sanford Road, Moncure, died Monday, Aug. 14, 1995 in Longview, Tex.
He was a native of Jackson, Miss. He was retired from the U.S. Navy and was a member of Columbus Masonic Lodge (NU)102. He was a member of Chatham United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Melody Kelly of Pittsboro, Leila Ross of Virginia Beach, and Melinda Smith of Chesapeake; one son, Joseph M. Butler Jr. of Pittsboro; one brother, Sidney Butler of Pensacola, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Chatham United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Duane R. Partin. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Griffin Funeral Home, Pittsboro.
