She was born in Norfolk.
She is survived by her mother, Thelma K. Boykins of Norfolk; and her father, Earl Askew of Chesapeake; maternal grandparents, Kenneth Lee Boykins Sr. and Queenie E. Boykins, both of Norfolk; paternal grandparents, Earl and Bessie Askew, both of Chesapeake.
