We live in a world where it seems as though one person cannot look at another without fear of being shot, stabbed or abused in some way. The need for understanding, kindness and spiritual guidance is stronger now than ever.
Because of this, I was appalled to read about the practice of the Noble Street Baptist Church in Portsmouth and its practice of what I term ``pay to pray.''
As a Catholic, I understand that it takes money to run the ministries of the church, but I also know that the God I worship would not want children to starve in order to be sure ``church payments'' are up to par.
