TRASH COLLECTION

Three cities - Norfolk, Virginia Beach and Chesapeake - collected trash Thursday after first canceling the day's collections because of Hurricane Felix. Other collection days have been scheduled for residents who did not know about Thursday's service.

Here are the collection days:

Chesapeake: Trash collection scheduled for Thursday will be picked up Saturday.

Norfolk: Trash collection normally scheduled for Thursday will be collected on Monday.

Portsmouth: Regular collection, if weather permits.

Suffolk: Trash usually picked up Thursday will be picked up today. Trash usually picked up today will be picked up on Saturday. Regular collection will resume on Monday.

Virginia Beach: Trash and garbage will be collected citywide on Saturday.

Curbside recycling service for the collections missed Wednesday because of Felix will be provided by the Southeastern Public Service Authority.

Smithfield: today

Suffolk: today

Chesapeake: Saturday

Norfolk: Monday

Virginia Beach, Franklin, Portsmouth and Windsor can expect to receive curbside recycling pickup on their scheduled days next week.
