Picture this scenario: In order to reduce federal spending, members of Congress declare they will lead the way by reducing their own pay raises, pensions, benefits and perks. Then, and only then, will they ask the rest of the country to share these painful cuts.
Wouldn't that be true democracy in action? I believe Americans would willingly pull together to meet that kind of challenge to defeat this devastating deficit.
