LETTERS TO THE EDITOR - VIRGINIA BEACH BEACON

Helping the committee help the disabled

I would like to thank Pam Starr for the article she wrote concerning the Mayor's Committee for the Disabled. She did a very good job. It was a pleasure working with her. Thanks to your photographer I looked 10 years younger. I like that.

I would like to add one thing. The only way the committee can be effective is to receive letters telling us the specific complaint. Everyone complains but few follow through with a letter. It's like voting: People complain that the government, state and federal, is doing terrible things but they never vote. Be a good citizen: Tell us where you find non-compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. We will try to correct where we can.

Please send your letters to Mayor Oberndorf and she will get them to the correct subcommittee.
