In response to Marti Tumlin's letter of July 18, 1995, opposing the Goals 2000 and supporting Governor Allen's rejection of federal funding:
1. If public schools do not turn out ``fodder'' (prepared) for the global work force, where will business/industry find both academically trained and vocationally skilled workers? (Is the term ``fodder'' an appropriate word to reference high school graduates/students?)
2. By rejecting federal funding, the governor has denied Virginia's youth access to programs paid for with their parents' federal taxes.
If we continue to deny our children access to federal programs which are funded with Virginia federal tax dollars, we will indeed hamper Virginia's efforts to adequately prepare all students for all aspects of the world of work.
