BESSIE L. DAVIS

Bessie Lee Davis, 67, of 1109 Holladay St., died Aug. 18, 1995, in Maryview Hospital, Portsmouth.

She was a retired domestic worker, and was born in Scotland Neck, N.C. She was a member of Kehukie Baptist Church, Scotland Neck. She attended Ebenezer Baptist Church in Portsmouth for three years.

She is survived by her husband Frank Davis of Scotland Neck, N.C.; two sons, Lester Hammiel of Scotland Neck and Bruce Davis of Smithfield, N.C.; five sisters, Beulah M. Parker and Johnie M. Hammiel, both of Portsmouth, Corine Hammiel and Ethel Hammiel, both of Bronx, N.Y., and Minnie Johnson of Teaneck, N.J.; two brothers, Ernest Hammiel of Iselin, N.J., and Gerson Hammiel of Bronx, N.Y.; one aunt, Maedella George of Norfolk, and a host of nieces and nephews; a special cousin, Henry Hammiel, and other cousins, in-laws, and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday in Kehukie Baptist Church, Scotland Neck, by the Rev. R.T. Taylor. Burial wil be in Marys Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Scotland Neck. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home, Portsmouth, will begin at 2 p.m. today until 6 p.m. Monday. The body will be taken to Mutts-Willoughby Funeral Home, Scotland Neck, on Monday evening.
