HAIRFIELD OVERTAKES WARREN FOR HIS FIRST LANGLEY WIN OF '95

For the first 37 laps Saturday night, it looked as if Phil Warren would win his 16th Late Model stock race of the season.

However, Bugs Hairfield had other ideas, passing Warren and cruising to his first victory of the season Saturday night at Langley Speedway.

Last week, Hairfield had another strong run, but withdrew halfway through the race after his car overheated.

This week, everything ran cool for the Richmond-area driver.

``It felt real good to finally win one,'' Hairfield said. ``I think my car ran pretty tight and I think that is why I was able to beat him (Warren).''

Warren said his car was a little loose but didn't take anything away from Hairfield's victory.

``Today he just had the better setup,'' the Norfolk native said after being kept out of victory lane a second straight week - Buddy Malish won last Saturday.

``But that is just the way it goes. We need wins for the Mid-Atlantic championship. We are just going to come back and try it again next week.''

Roger Sawyer was next after Hairfield and Warren. Charlie Bryant Jr., second in the Late Model point standings, was fourth and Malish fifth.
