Ford recalls Mustangs for steering problems

Ford Motor Co. said Monday that it is recalling 1,100 1995 Mustangs to correct a possible defect in steering system components. Ford said some of the affected cars might have a defective joint between the tie rods and the front wheels. The defect could cause the end of the tie rod to break, causing steering difficulty. Ford said there have been no reports of accidents or injuries related to the defect. The company said 208 of the 1,100 affected cars are in Canada. (AP) TRW team gets contract for simulation center

A team of defense contractors led by TRW Inc. has won a $56.7 million contract to support the U.S. Atlantic Command's Joint Training Analysis and Simulation Center in Suffolk. The five-year contract from the Defense Department will employ about 200 people, Cleveland-based TRW said. The simulation center will be used for joint training, exercise and rehearsal programs of the nearly 80 percent of the nation's armed forces effectively under the command of the U.S. Atlantic Command. The TRW-led team includes Professional Software Engineering Inc. of Virginia Beach and two Northern Virginia firms. (Bloomberg) by CNB
