KATIE C. WOOD

Katie Chapman Wood, 88, of the 3100 block of Shore Drive, died Aug. 19, 1995, in Virginia Beach.

Mrs. Wood, the widow of Robert S. Wood, had previously worked as a dental technician in Norfolk. She also was a retired realtor with Goodman, Segar, Hogan, after over 20 years of service. She was born in Norfolk and was a member of Royster Memorial Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the King's Daughters Circle, the Norfolk City Union, and a former member of Norfolk Yacht and Country Club.

Survivors include one niece and her husband, Barbara Miller Trant and Thomas B. Trant, both of Virginia Beach; three great-nephews and their wives, Thomas H. and Leigh Trant of York County, James R. and Leslie Trant of Simpsonville, S.C., and John M. and Lily Trant of Baton Rouge, La.; one great-niece, Thirza Trant Tippett and husband, David, of Virginia Beach; three cousins, Jack W. Siebert of Virginia Beach and his wife, Jean, and Audell Ames and Edward Ames. She was predeceased by her son, James Carroll Hill Jr.; and her parents, Mary Gunter Chapman and Charles H. Chapman.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Riverside Memorial Park by Dr. John O. Monroe. The family will receive friends at the niece's residence in Virginia Beach. Memorial donations may be made to Royster Memorial Presbyterian Church or to The Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters. The ``auntie'' we knew, loved, and sometimes heeded her advice is and will be missed. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, is in charge.
