Nature writer Jennifer Ackerman will read from her new book, ``Notes from the Shore,'' at Manteo Booksellers on Thursday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m.
Ackerman is a former staff writer for the National Geographic Society. Her essays have appeared in The New York Times and other national publications.
``Notes,'' her first book, has been called a ``lyrical meditation'' on the Delaware shore, where Ackerman lived for three years.
