I've listened to many very smart people who are convinced that the Lake Gaston pipeline is both an economic necessity and a relatively small demand on the lake.
After spending a weekend camping at the lake, I don't agree.
We should not risk precious resources to pay for unrestricted development anywhere.
After Virginia Beach starts draining from the lake, why not Raleigh, Durham and others?
Has Mother Nature guaranteed the flow from the Roanoke River?
This looks like another case of meeting immediate needs with all the risks passed on to our kids and later generations.
While there's time, I'd recommend a visit to the lake by anyone who's interested. Then come back and look at the proposal.
