CRIME REPORT

DISTRICT A

Lost or stolen tag, 5900 Bradford Drive, Aug. 2, someone reported rear state license tag missing from his vehicle.

Hit and run, 2700 block North Nansemond Drive, Aug. 3, a woman was walking her dogs when a small, white pickup truck approached at high speed. When she reached down to pick up a dog, the truck struck her and caused her to fall into a ditch. The truck kept going.

Breaking and entering, 5800 Bernhowe Manor Lane, Aug. 3, someone entered a house between June 23 and 25, through a window that had been unlocked during an earlier visit. Three checks were removed, and the suspect left through the front door.

Breaking and entering, 5800 Bernhowe Manor Lane, Aug. 3, someone entered a residence between July 21 and 23, while the occupant was out of town. A rear window was pried open, and a Nintendo game computer and two game tapes valued at $300 were removed.

Unauthorized use of motor vehicle - 6000 block Camellia Drive, Aug. 5., someone borrowed a maroon, 4-door, '89 Honda Accord but did not return it.

DISTRICT B

Breaking and entering, 3600 block Labrador Lane, Aug. 3, someone entered a residence through an unlocked front door. Holes were knocked in the stairwell wall and in an upstairs door and wall. Several plastic bags were torn open and clothes thrown about the room.

Forgery, Wilroy Road and Rodney Lane, Aug. 3, after being stopped for several traffic violations, the driver signed a false name to eight summonses. The driver's real name was later discovered.

Breaking and entering, 2200 block Kings Fork Road, Aug. 7, someone entered a home by prying open the back door. A wallet containing $45 was removed. A chicken and two packages of meat were removed from the freezer.

Grand larceny, 2200 block Wilroy Road, Aug. 8, a Black Beauty shotgun was removed from a residence closet.

DISTRICT C

Petty larceny, Washington and Saratoga streets, Aug. 2, someone entered a vehicle by removing a temporary window patch. Several items were taken, including a walking cane, assorted toiletries and a dress.

Strong-arm robbery, 400 block North Main St., Aug. 3, a woman was leaving a building when she was approached by a man who stated, ``Don't say anything or I will kill you.'' The man then reached into her pocket, removed a set of keys and a dollar bill, and then fled on foot.

Strong-arm robbery, 800 block West Washington St., Aug. 3, a woman reports that a man threw her down to the ground and robbed her of $9 and a package of gum.

Possession, 400 block Wilson St., Aug. 3, a woman was arrested for possessiing marijuana.

Stolen firearm, 300 block South Wellons St., Aug. 3, someone removed a Jennings 380 caliber, semi-automatic handgun from a vehicle.

Breaking and entering, 100 block Brewer Ave., Aug. 3, someone entered a residence and removed a Panasonic portable CD player with double cassette and AM/FM radio, which was subsequently located in another room.

Petty larceny, 500 block Pitchkettle Road, Aug. 4, someone removed a bicycle from a porch.

Armed robbery, West Washington Street and St. James Avenue, Aug. 4, someone approached a man at a fast-food restaurant and removed $30 from his pants pocket, left the store and drove off. The victim pursued the robber in his own vehicle. Both parties pulled over, and the robber produced a small caliber, semi-automatic handgun and removed $800 worth of gold from the victim.

Petty larceny, 800 block West Constance Road, someone removed six Fuji VHS tapes from a store without paying for them.

Breaking and entering, 400 block Smith St., Aug. 5, someone entered a church by prying open a window and cutting off the screws. Various tools, microphone wires and a telephone were removed.

Breaking and entering, 500 block Kilby Ave., Aug. 6, someone attempted to enter a house by pulling a screen away from a window and breaking another window. Damage was estimated at $100.

Assault, 400 block North St., Aug. 6, a juvenile was struck about the face and body during an argument.

Breaking and entering, 900 block Garfield Ave., Aug. 7, someone entered a house by breaking out a rear bathroom window.

Unlawful concealment, 1400 block North Main St., Aug. 7, a woman was observed concealing a skirt. It was recovered, and the woman left the store.

Breaking and entering, 100 block Mahan St., Aug. 7, someone entered a house by breaking off the front lock. No items were removed.

Attempted murder, 100 block Brewer Ave., Aug. 7, after a verbal altercation, a man was struck and then shot at.

Breaking and entering, 600 block Battery Ave., Aug. 9, someone entered a residence by breaking open the back door. Items removed included a car phone.

DISTRICT D

Breaking and entering, 100 block Forest Oak Lane, Aug. 2, while a woman was out of town, several items were removed from her apartment, including two RCA's, a Sony stereo, a clock and several pieces of jewelry.

Breaking and entering, 200 block Bank St., Aug. 3, someone entered a residence through a kitchen window and removed a 13-inch color TV.

Breaking and entering, 800 block Dill Road, Aug. 3, someone entered a business and removed assorted welding equipment.

Breaking and entering, 200 block Holladay St., Aug. 3, someone attempted to enter an apartment by kicking down the door but was scared away by a neighbor.

Breaking and entering, 400 block Ben St., Aug. 4, someone attempted to enter a house by removing a bedroom window screen.

Petty larceny, 1000 block Blythewood Lane, Aug. 4, someone removed a Virginia state inspection sticker from a vehicle.

Breaking and entering, 1000 Blythewood Lane, Aug. 4, someone entered a residence and removed an Admiral VCR, $80 and a bag of Avon products.

Breaking and entering, 300 block Briggs St., Aug. 5, someone pried open the door to a church and removed a Singer HB-14100 vacuum cleaner valued at $149.

Petty larceny, 300 block Roland St., Aug. 6, someone removed a blue and white, with orange stripes, 10-speed Murray 20-inch bicycle from a residence.

Strong-arm robbery, Nancy Drive, Aug. 7, someone was approached by two other men who threw him to the ground and removed $20 from his pocket. The victim was struck about the head and body and required medical treatment.

Breaking and entering, 800 block Dill Road, Aug. 7, someone entered a business and removed welding equipment and tools.

Breaking and entering, 300 block Goodman St., Aug. 7, someone entered a residence by forcing the front door lock. Items removed included a 20-inch Zenith color TV, an AM/FM CD cassette radio, two Timex watches and a pink change bank containing approximately $10. The phone lines at the right front corner of the house were also cut.

Strong-arm robbery, 600 block Carolina Ave., Aug. 7, someone was approached by three men who robbed him of his green tank top shirt and beat him up.

Robbery, 100 block Hall Ave., Aug. 7, someone was approached by a man who demanded his wallet. Change and a knife were also removed from the victim's pants pockets.

DISTRICT E

Breaking and entering, 7200 South Quay Road, Aug. 2, a woman reports leaving her home for a short time and returning to find several items missing, including kitchen items, two gold bracelets and several pieces of costume jewelry.

Breaking and entering, 8000 block South Quay Road, Aug. 4, two Homelite gas powered trimmers were removed from a shed. The lock and chain to the shed were also missing.

Vandalism, 200 block Kenyon Road, Aug. 9, someone used an unknown object to engrave a swastika and racial remarks into wet cement near a school ballpark.

DISTRICT F

Lost/stolen, 2700 Badger Road, Aug. 6, someone reports that a Motorola cellular phone is either lost or stolen. by CNB
