Jazz fest performers
Besides Kevin Mahogany, this weekend's Town Point Jazz Festival offers, for no charge, music by some familiar national figures. Among them:
KoKo Taylor and Her Blues Machine. The former Chess Records star hit a new peak of popularity in the '80s and continues to appear before large crowds around the world. She sings at 8:30 p.m. Friday.
Earl Klugh. The guitarist known for his numerous solo albums and collaborations with Bob James appears at 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
The Yellowjackets. One of the most well-loved and versatile of the '80s wave of lite-jazz crews, they return to Hampton Roads for several sets on both Saturday (5:30 and 7 p.m.) and Sunday (3:45 and 5 p.m.).
Regional acts include Against All Odds (5:30 and 7 p.m. Friday), The Russell Scarborough Quintet (noon and 1 p.m. Saturday) and The Roy Muth Big Band (noon and 1 p.m. Sunday). by CNB
