Ellis H. Strickland, 68, of the 3900 block of Scott St., died Aug. 23, 1995.
He was a native of Erwin, N.C., and was the widower of Juanita Weston Strickland. He was the son of the late Willie A. and Myrtle Jackson Strickland. He was a retired ironworker with the Ironworkers Local 79, and was a member of Moose Lodge (NU)898.
Survivors include three daughters, JoAnne Willey of Chesapeake, Patty Thomas of Suffolk, Kelly Davis of Portsmouth; one son, Rick Strickland of Huntersville, N.C.; one sister, Muriel Crawford of Erwin, N.C.; two brothers, W.A. Strickland of Portsmouth and Sherrill Strickland of Wilmington, N.C.; seven grandchildren; a cousin, Edward Jackson of Smithfield, N.C.; a loving friend, Norma Webber of Portsmouth; and two nephews and six nieces.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens by the Rev. H. Celeste Heath. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, today from 7:30 to 9 p.m., and other tmes at 4032 Oak Drive, Chesapeake. Memorial donations may be made to the Martha Davis Cancer Treatment Center.
