ON THE MOVE: PAIR PICKED TO HEAD DATABANK

Stephanie Van Stone and Bea Hopkins have joined Residential DataBank as director and assistant director respectively. Residential DataBank, an independent subsidiary of Rose & Krueth Realty Corp., offers information services on local real estate transactions and market activity to realty firms, banks and mortgage companies.

Van Stone was recently employed by the Tidewater Association of Realtors. Hopkins worked for Tidewater Insight, a housing market research firm, for nine years.

Chris Wicker, a past president of the Northern Neck Board of Realtors and former mayor the town of Colonial Beach, has joined Rose & Krueth as managing broker of the agency's new Portsmouth office at 5907 West Norfolk Road.

Rose & Krueth has cited 25 agents for high production during the second quarter of 1995. For sales: Joe Carter, Vicki Holasek, Mildred Walker, Karen Pennington, Barbara Shaughnessy, Sharon Lathrop, Stephanie Cutler, Barbara Natoli, Jeanne West and Cheryl Holloway.

Suzanne Rose, sales associate, and Debra Carter, sales secretary, received the Eagle Award for customer service excellence. Both work in Rose & Krueth's Bayside office.

Leading Edge Realty announces that Judy Lilly was the new homes agent for July, Terrence Atkinson the month's top listing agent and Dee Duffy top performer.

Top agents for William E. Wood and Associates for July were Barbara Adams, top listings; Suzanne Barr, sales; Andy Mullen, new home sales; Renee Quinn, property manager, and Joyce Kirby and Harriet Regsdale, relocation referrals.

Century 21, a national franchise brokerage giant founded by two Orange County realty agents 24 years ago, will move its headquarters from Irvine, Calif., to New Jersey as part of a massive restructuring.

Real estate brokers who work at any of the company's 6,000 franchises will not be affected by the move, which is expected to be completed by March.

Century 21 has more than 60,000 agents who work in company franchises located throughout the world, including Paris, Ireland and Japan.

Four sales associates for Century 21's Hampton Road operations were honored with the Centurion Candidate Award, the highest quarterly sales award for the district: Kenneth Rapp, Century 21 At the Mall, Virginia Beach; Lisa Sharp, Chesapeake Bay Realty, and Robert Daniel and Larry Townsend, Newport News.

Seven local Century 21 agencies were recently named Gold Club Offices for the second quarter of the year: At The Mall, Greg Garrett, Nachman Realty Co., Charter Realty, Action-Plus, Accord Realty and Century Realty.

Century 21's local offices were also noted by the Easter Seal Society of Virginia for their 16 years of commitment to the nonprofit agency and $50 million cumulative donation to people with disabilities. Easter Seals declared Aug. 14-18 ``Century 21 Appreciation Week.''

Earning kudos for The Prudential Decker Realty in July were listing agents Nancy Koch, Lynnhaven; Charlie King, Beach; Elton Lee, Great Neck; Bettie Wuthrich, Chesapeake, and sales agents Frank Trygar, Lynnhaven; Mandy Yoder, Beach; Marianne Scott, Great Neck, and Tom Seddon, Chesapeake.

Terry J. Rickard, a local maintenance housing manager with VMH Inc., has received the Certified Maintenance Specialist designation. To qualify, a candidate must be a member of the Tidewater Multifamily Housing Council and have at least 500 CMS points.

Rose & Krueth's relocation service center has been recognized by RELO, the International Relocation Network, for outstanding production in June. The service placed in the nation's top 20 in three categories: incoming referral sales, outgoing referrals sent and outgoing referral sales.

Re/Max International has entered a programming and marketing agreement with NBC Desktop Video to provide weekly customized business news to the Re/Max Satellite Network. The program, ``Real Estate Week,'' began airing July 25.

The National Association of Realtors will hold its annual convention and trade exposition Nov. 9-14 in Atlanta. Among the education sessions planned are ``Technology and the Future,'' ``Buyer Agency, Dual Agency, No Agency,'' ``Real Estate Outlook: 1996 and Beyond,'' ``Fair Housing Law: The Next Generation'' and ``Qualifying More Home Buyers With New Financing Options.''

The 1,000-booth trade exposition will feature new technology trends and developments, including displays by leading software companies.

The Virginia Housing Development Authority is the first state housing agency in the Southeast to qualify as a user of Federal Home Loan Bank credit services. The VHDA becomes eligible to borrow funds as a non-member mortagee to support housing initiatives and development.

The Franciscus Co. of Virginia Beach has received the ``Diamond Builder'' award from 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty, the national underwriter of a leading 10-year homebuyers warranty program. Franciscus projects include the Stone Hill and Les Chateaux condominiums in Chesapeake and the River Pointe development in Portsmouth.

The company has started construction on Wimbledon Square in Chesapeake and Queen's Colony in Williamsburg is on the drawing board.

Some stats: Home values in the United States accelerated during the second quarter at an average annualized rate of 3.3 percent, according to the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac Index. The rate for the South Atlantic states was 1.1 percent. . . Despite declines in mortgage rates, home buyers lost a marginal amount of purchasing power in the second quarter, primarily due to home price increases, says the National Association of Realtors. . . The F.W. Dodge Division of the McGraw-Hill Companies says contracts for future residential construction in Hampton Roads rose 31 percent in June over activity in June 1994. The total for this June was $95.8 million; for June 1994, $72.9 million. The total for the year through June was $406.8 million; for last year, $402.3 million, a 1 percent gain overall.
