Charley Moore, 65, of the 100 block of Channing Ave., died Aug. 25, 1995, in a Norfolk hospital.
Mr. Moore, a native of Topeka, Kan., was retired from the supply department of Portsmouth Naval Hospital and also retired from the U.S. Navy. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Portsmouth Moose Lodge (NU)898, Cradock V.F.W.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Hasty Moore; two daughters, Barbara Holland of Chesapeake and Jo Ann Balaton of Portsmouth; one sister, Lou Etta McClain of Rockwall, Texas; three brothers, John Newton Moore of California, Clarence E. Moore and George Moore, both of Topeka; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles William Moore, a sister, Elmira Gay, and a brother, Ralph Moore.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Greenlawn Mausoleum Chapel with Military honors by Chaplain Beverly Roddy. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
