My heart goes out to the Faulkners. Their daughter made a decision - a controversial one. They stood by her, as any parent would do, in her quest to reach something she believed in. A ferocious legal battle and 2 1/2 years meant enormous emotional stress not only for her but also for her family and friends. Once she formally resigned, cadets at the all- male Citadel were jubilant.
Officers and gentlemen? Think again. Also think that all of us, males and females, contribute tax dollars toward their education.
I ask the good Lord to guide my children and their talents as far away as possible from institutions such as The Citadel.
