The Western Tidewater Tech Prep Consortium has been awarded a Tech Prep Improvement Grant of $32,500 for 1996.
The money will be used to continue the development of a general engineering technology degree and the completion of the development of a tech prep marketing program.
The development of these programs will provide expanded educational opportunities through tech prep for area public school students to pursue associate degrees at Paul D. Camp Community College and to receive the essential education and training they will need to obtain meaningful employment.
Tech Prep is a program of studies that involves four years of high school course work, followed by two years of higher education such as a community college or technical school. Through the Western Tidewater initiative, high school students are offered two structured options of focus - college preparation and technical preparation.
The Western Tidewater Tech Program Consortium is an educational partnership including Paul D. Camp Community College, Franklin, Lakeland, Nansemond River, Smithfield, Southampton and Windsor high schools, and P.D. Pruden Vocational-Technical Center. by CNB
