Reaching the 16-year-old Babe Ruth World Series is quite an accomplishment.
Losing both games in the series by one run hurts.
After being invited to a tournament that they didn't think they would be in at all, the Albemarle 16-year-old team lost 3-2 to the Cincinnati Storm in the opening round.
They also suffered a 5-4 loss to Del Rio, Texas, later in the tournament.
Both losses came in the bottom of the seventh innings.
The Albemarle team had lost the Southeast Regional to East Cobb County when both games went to extra innings.
But the Georgia team was eliminated from the tournament due to an ineligible player and Albemarle was invited to take East Cobb's place.
The team included players from Manteo, Currituck County, Camden County and Perquimans County high schools. by CNB
