Mabel Sturgis Ashby, 84, died Aug. 26, 1995, in Northampton-Accomack Memorial Hospital, Nassawadox.
Mrs. Ashby, the widow of the late Samuel Berkley Ashby, was born in Davis Wharf, Va. She was the daughter of the late Edward Savage Sturgis and the late Bessie Bull Sturgis. She was a member of Craddockville United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
Survivors include one daughter, Martha Sue Ashby of Belle Haven; three sons, Berkley E. Ashby and E. Sturgis Ashby, both of Exmore, Va., Cecil M. Ashby of Belle Haven; and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. today in Doughty Funeral Home, Exmore, by the Rev. Fred G. Marvel. Burial will be in Belle Haven Cemetery. Family and friends may call at her late residence anytime. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
