John Hamilton Key Jr., 64, of the 5200 block of Cape Henry Ave., died Aug. 25, 1995, after a short illness, in his home.
Mr. Key, a research specialist with Eastern Virginia Medical School for six years, was born in Charlottesville. He was a member of Bank Street Memorial Baptist Church, Norfolk. He was a member of February Birth Month Club, Men's Fellowship, inactive Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and Prince Hall Masons. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and 30-year service award from the University of Virginia. He served his country at a 1st Lt. in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Alberta H. Key; one daughter, Gloria Key Simmons; one son, John Hamilton Key III; one sister, Lucille N. Brooks of Washington, D.C.; one grandchild, Carrie Laverne Simmons; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Carrie B. Terrell and John H. Key Sr.; and one brother, Henry G. Key.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Bank Street Memorial Baptist Church, Norfolk, by the Rev. Cedric Kirkland-Harris. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. Hale Funeral Home, 2100 Ballentine Blvd., Norfolk, in charge.
