CLARICE WHITAKER

Clarice ``Ress'' Whitaker, of the 1800 block of Greenleaf Dr., died Aug. 22, 1995, in a local hospital.

She was a homemaker and she was born in Jackson, N.C. Survivors include five daughters, Annie L. Whitaker, Evelyn D. Whitaker, LaVonya Whitaker, all of Norfolk, Johnella Hawkins of Chesapeake, and LaTonya Plummer of Norfolk; three sons, John Whitaker, James S. Whitaker, Gary Whitaker, all of Norfolk; four sisters, Mary L. Whitaker of Newark, N.J., Lucille Means and Helen Whitaker, both of Norfolk, Delane Mason of Bronx, N.Y.; seven brothers, David Whitaker, James Whitaker, both of New York, Coley Whitaker of New Jersey, Waverly Whitaker of North Carolina, Paul Whitaker of Connecticut, Nelson Whitaker of Newark, Herman Whitaker of Atlantic City; 13 grandchildren; two adopted children, Shajada J. McKiver, Grant G. McKiver; and a devoted friend, John W. Saunders of Norfolk; one great-grandchild, two sons-in-law, Michael Hawkins of Chesapeake, Hollis Plummer of Norfolk; and a daughter-in-law, Vanessa Whitaker. She was predeceased by her parents, Pauline G. and King D. Whitaker.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in St. Thomas AME Zion Church, 1700 Melon St., Norfolk, by the Rev. G.L. Scott. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Family and friends will assemble at 1830 Greenleaf Drive, Norfolk, on Monday at noon for funeral procession to the church.
