Rosa S. Thornton, 82, died Aug. 26, 1995, in Maryview Medical Center, Portsmouth.
Mrs. Thornton was born in Selma, N.C., and was a homemaker. She was the widow of Frank Thornton.
Survivors include daughters, Alice Bright of Portsmouth, Louise Mozingo of Newport News, Geraldine Hunt of Raleigh, Donnie Lane of Independence, Mo., Evelyn Jenkins of Milton, Vt., and Betty Starbuck of Wrightsville Beach, N.C.; sons, Herbert F. Thornton of Newport News, H. Eugene Thornton of Newport News, F.B. Thornton of Garner, N.C., and Jerry Thornton of Sharpsburg, N.C.; sisters, Myrtle Brannan of Newport News and Sadie Michael of Greensboro, N.C.; brothers, Leslie Stallings of Selma, N.C., Dewey Stallings of Virginia Beach and Avis Stallings of Selma; 19 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Parrish Funeral Home, Selma, N.C., by the Rev. Perry Jordon and Dr. Ray Jones. Burial will be in Selma Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home. Flowers are acceptable or memorial donations may be made to Live Oak Baptist Church, Selma, N.C., 27576.
