UNION SMALL

Union Small, 94, of the 600 block of Virginia Ave., a retired welder, died Aug. 24, 1995, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

He was born in North Carolina and retired 40 years ago from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 28 years of service. He was the widower of Addie Small. Mr. Small was a member of C.H. Mason COGIC in Norfolk and was under watch care at Macedonia COGIC in Portsmouth. He had been a deacon for more than 26 years and was past treasurer for the Male Usher Board at C.H. Mason COGIC.

Survivors include three daughters, Vera L. Riddick of Norfolk, Clarstine Blizzard of Silver Spring, Md., and Mable Small of Baltimore; a son, Roland Small of Evansville, Ind.; two brothers, Itely Small of Norfolk and the Rev. Robert Small of Philadelphia; 24 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday in New Hope COGIC, 3232 Brest Ave., with Dr. Herman Clark Sr. officiating and elder David William eulogizing. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Family and friends will assemble at the home, 623 Virginia Ave., Norfolk, at noon Wednesday for the funeral processional to the church. The remains will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Visitation will begin at Hale Funeral Home this evening.
