TROY W. NEWSOME SR.

Troy Wilson Newsome Sr., 74, of the 2800 block of Deerwood Drive and formerly of Murfreesboro, died Aug. 25, 1995, in Tampa, Fla.

Mr. Newsome was born in Hertford County, N.C. He was a retired farmer, former airline pilot and flight instructor. He was a member of Meherrin Baptist Church in Murfreesboro and Murfreesboro Lions Club. He was a pilot in the Army Air Corps in World War II and U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Montgomery of Blountstown, Fla. and Ann Newsome DeNeve of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three sons, Troy Wilson Newsome Jr. of Tampa, Fla., Steve Newsome of Woodland, N.C. and Charles Newsome of Cheraw, S.C.; a sister, Carolyn Pittman of Siler City, N.C.; two brothers, Robert Newsome and Alvin Newsome, both of Ahoskie, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Garrett Funeral Home, Ahoskie, by the Rev. Billy Sellers. Burial will be in Ahoskie Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the home of Steve Newsome, 297 W. Woodland Ave., Woodland, N.C. The family will assemble at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
