Richard S. ``Ricky'' Hogarth, charged with the fatal shooting of his girlfriend in a convenience store parking lot in March, is scheduled for trial Jan. 8.
The date was set at a pretrial conference on Friday, said Assistant District Attorney Mike Johnson.
Hogarth was arrested in Virginia on March 13 after leading police on an interstate chase beginning the night 24-year-old Tracy Dawn Crafton was killed and her step-grandfather wounded a few miles north of Elizabeth City.
Hogarth spent more than three months in a Norfolk jail on a larceny conviction related to the killing before being returned to North Carolina on July 31.
