An attorney for James Graham Foreman Jr. on Monday waived an arraignment hearing on charges that he embezzled more than $100,000 from the Albemarle Area United Way, prosecutors said.
Foreman is facing 23 counts each of embezzlement and of malfeasance by a corporate agent.
Foreman resigned as the United Way's part-time executive director in February after board members discovered what turned out to be a doctored audit report.
Foreman is accused of diverting funds intended for the United Way to a bank account he set up for his own use.
In a civil settlement with United Way last month, Foreman admitted to diverting funds.
Assistant District Attorney Mike Johnson said a trial or disposition hearing on the case was unlikely before October.
