A 20-year-old North Carolina woman died early Monday after she lost control of her car on a rural road and crossed into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer, police said.
Maria C. Villorente of Moyock was traveling west in the 200 block of Ballahack Road when her car swerved into the wrong lane, police spokeswoman Elizabeth Jones said. The truck hit Villorente's car head-on.
Villorente died at the scene. The truck driver, whose name was not released, was unhurt.
Jones said the investigation is continuing.
