1. GREEN RUN - The Stallions have size, speed, experience and, perhaps, most importantly, motivation. A 21-20 loss to Kempsville in the final game last year deprived the Stallions of the championship.
2. TALLWOOD - The Lions' meteoric rise should continue behind the running of TaRon Anderson and an aggressive defense led by ends Alvin Wilson and John Joseph.
3. KEMPSVILLE - Player of the year Mike Pishioneri is gone, but the Chiefs still have coach John Bowles ,who has quietly restored the Chiefs to prominence.
4. BAYSIDE - Bill King has never had a losing season, a streak that figures to continue.
5. OCEAN LAKES - From newcomer to the top half of the district in two seasons? It's been done. Just ask Tallwood. The Lions went to the Eastern Region playoffs in only their third season.
6. FIRST COLONIAL - Frank Websters' string of 28 seasons without a losing record could be in jeopardy as this is the thinnest crop of talent the Patriots have seen in several years.
7. PRINCESS ANNE - The Cavaliers will ride the heels of running back Mike Majette as the senior attempts to break the area's all-time leading rushing record.
8. SALEM - The Sun Devils don't have many big names, but that won't matter. That way, opposing defenses won't know who to chase.
9. KELLAM - The Knights break the area's longest losing streak and gain a little self-respect in doing so.
10 COX - Too many new things to deal with for the Falcons to compete. But give them a few years. MEMO: [Special Section includes football teams for all area high schools.]
