1. INDIAN RIVER - strong on both sides of the football and could be a district leader in both offense and defense.
2. DEEP CREEK - if IR falters, the Hornets could step up front for the second year in a row.
3. CHURCHLAND - the key for the Truckers is winning three of their first four games.
4. NORCOM - defense will be sound but the passing game is a big question mark.
5. WESTERN BRANCH - excellent skill players but the offensive line could pose problems.
6. GREAT BRIDGE - the Wildcats could sneak higher but probably will fare better in out-of-district games.
7. WILSON - a rebuilding year with hopes of improving upon 2-8 records in the past two seasons and no league wins last year.
8. OSCAR SMITH - also rebuilding but forced to play Norcom, Churchland, Great Bridge and Indian River on the road. MEMO: [Special Section includes football teams for all area high schools.]
