I am disgusted by columnist Cal Thomas' suggestion (``The conversion of Roe,'' Perspectives, Aug. 17) that abortions are conducted ``behind closed clinic doors'' because the pro-choice movement is ``terrified of the political implications of fully disclosing to women details of the abortion procedure and the many alternatives to having one.''
Thomas has chosen to ignore the organized campaign of terrorist activities directed at women's clinics and employees as the obvious reason for the security measures in place at such facilities.
I trust Mr. Thomas' outrage would be directed toward the criminals and their organizers if, instead of abortion clinics, these fanatics targeted the offices of conservative editorialists for bombing, arson, harassment, murder and mayhem.
I join Mr. Thomas in denouncing such terrorism. I am enraged that he could tacitly approve such activities against clinics by attributing the need for security to a desire to hide facts pertinent to the debate.
