Last summer we drove across country and the one city that really stood out for us was Gainesville, Fla. We took our bikes and biked in communities during our trip and so experienced cities on a personal level. Gainesville has an outstanding bike-lane system.
The overall effect of this system is one of caring for its citizens as well as out-of-towners. Virginia Beach could really benefit from a concise city plan instead of just piecemeal bike trails.
I will follow up by contacting Gainesville for its bike-trail-plan information.
