Hershall Winslow Carter, 71, of Route 1, Box 205, died Aug. 28, 1995 in an Albermarle hospital.
A native of Gates County, he was retired from Hofler Tractor. He was a member of Gatesville Baptist Church and a World War II Army veteran. He was the son of the late Winslow and Bessie Outland Carter.
Survivors include his wife, Lena Bennett Carter; one stepdaughter, Rebecca Johnson of Richmond; one stepson, Thomas C. Little of Washington, N.C.; one sister, Marion Woolard of Washington, N.C.; two brothers, Willis Carter of Hobbsville and Tony Carter of Auburn, Ala.; and four stepgrandchildren.
Funeral services will be today at 3:30 p.m. in Harrell Funeral Home Chapel, Gatesville, by the Rev. Ric Durham. Burial will be in the Carter Family cemetery.
