BETTY J. MARTIN

Betty J. Martin, of the 3000 block of Omohundro Ave., died Aug. 25, 1995, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Martin, a nursing care partner, worked faithfully for more than 21 years for Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was born in Norfolk and was a member of Gideon Riverside Fellowship, Norfolk. She was a chairperson of its American Baptist Women. She was a member of the Combine Usher Board, the Milton A. Reid Helping Hand Club, and Annie B. Mourning Tent (NU)607.

Survivors include her husband, George W. Martin Jr.; two sons, George A. Martin of Brooklyn, N.Y., Raymond L. Martin of Norfolk; sisters; father, Joseph Mackey of Brooklyn; a brother; two grandchildren; a very special grandmother, Mrs. Francis Kent of Norfolk; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her mother, Annie Jean Mackey.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Gideon Riverside Fellowship, 362 Campostella Road, Norfolk, by Dr. Milton A. Reid. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk. The body will be placed in Gideon today at 10 a.m. Family and friends will assemble at 3016 Omohundro Ave., Norfolk, todayat noon for the processional.
