Helen C. Sims passed away Aug. 28, 1995, in Sentara Leigh Hospital after an extended illness.
Mrs. Sims was the widow of Namon L. Sims and a native of Elizabeth City, N.C.
She is survived by two daughters, Margaret S. Butler of Norfolk and Helen C. Howard of Baltimore, Md.; a son-in-law, Robert Butler of Norfolk; seven grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; 11 great-grandchildren; 14 great-step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins and other relatives. She was predeceased by her parents, Isaac and Ellen Combs Brickhouse; one daughter, Sylvia E. Sims; and one granddaughter, Valerie R. Hunter-Pines.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, 1995, in Queen Street Baptist Church by the Rev. Percell Whitaker. An informal wake will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31. at Graves Funeral Home. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. The family will be at 5425 Berry Hill Road (Poplar Hall), Norfolk.
