GEORGE W. MATHEWS

George W. Mathews, of the 6000 block of Clear Springs Road, died Aug. 28, 1995, in a local hospital.

Mr. Mathews had retired from the U.S. Navy and he was a member of Kingdom Hall Jehovah's Witness, Oakgrove Road, Chesapeake. He was born in Norfolk and was presently employed at the Naval Material Transportation Office, Naval Air Station.

Survivors include his wife, Dianne Mathews; two daughters, Nedra M. Mathews and Lorrie P. Nichols; four sons, George Ponton, Anthony Ponton, James Ponton, and Christopher Ponton; one sister, Annie Cary; and one brother, James Mathews. He was predeceased by his parents, Alberta Mathews and William Lindsey.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in Kingdom Hall Jehovah's Witness, Oakgrove Road, by Brother Fred Gross. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Friends may join the family at the residence. Graves Funeral Home in charge.
