PARK SERVICE FALL SCHEDULE

All National Park Service visitor centers on Cape Hatteras National Seashore will remain open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through the fall.

The Bodie Island Visitor Center will close Oct. 10, and the Ocracoke Island Visitor Center will close Oct. 30.

The Hatteras Island Visitor Center in Buxton is open year-round from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily (closed Christmas Day). Hours for visitor centers at Wright Brothers National Memorial and Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, after Labor Day, will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily (closed Christmas Day).

Ranger-led programs will be offered every day at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Hatteras Island Visitor Center, Sept. 5 through Oct. 9.

Programs such as beach walks, lighthouse history and lifesaving stories will give autumn visitors a special glimpse of the island's extensive natural and cultural history. Program topics will be posted daily.

Flight Room talks will be presented every hour on the hour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Wright Brothers Visitor Center. The film ``Roanoke: The Lost Colony'' will be shown every 30 minutes at the Fort Raleigh Visitor Center.

The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse will remain open daily for public climbing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 5 through Oct. 9. Public visitation to the base of the Bodie Island Lighthouse has ended for the 1995 season. The Ocracoke Island Lighthouse is not open to the public.

After Labor Day weekend, the National Park Service campgrounds at Ocracoke and Oregon Inlet will remain open until Sept. 30, with fees of $12 per night on a first-come, first-served basis. The National Park Service campgrounds at Cape Point and Frisco will close at noon Sept. 5.

Lifeguards will remain on duty from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Ocracoke and at the Sandy Bay day-use area, near Frisco, through Labor Day weekend. by CNB
