James Colon Brothers Sr., 71, of 504 Copley Dr., died Wednesday evening, Aug. 30, 1995, in Albemarle Hospital.
A native of Norfolk, he was the son of the late Walter Irving Brothers Sr. and Elmira Munden Brothers. He formerly worked as a manager in a service station and a motel, and served in the Merchant Marines.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Alligood Brothers; two daughters, Deborah B. Caton and her husband, Brian E. Caton of Kill Devil Hills, and Elizabeth Dianne Brothers of Virginia Beach; a son, James Colon Brothers Jr. of Kill Devil Hills; three sisters, Margaret B. Smith of Elizabeth City, Hellon B. Wood and Edith B. Sykes, both of Virginia Beach; a brother, W. Irving Brothers Jr. of Chesapeake; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Elizabeth Caton of Kill Devil Hills.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Maestas Funeral Home Chapel, 1801 Baltic Ave., Virginia Beach, with the Rev. David Daniels officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. Swindell Funeral Home of Hertford is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, or your favorite charity.
