Lena Bell Phelps, 82, of the 900 block of Sunnyside Drive, died Aug. 31, 1995, in a local hospital.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Mrs. Phelps was born in Creswell, N.C., and was a member of Calvary Temple in Norfolk.
She is survived by her husband, Admond Phelps Sr.; five daughters, Iris Jean Hutton, Ada Bell Campbell, Garlon Ann Curry, Carolyn Fay Jefferson and Jackie Lee Kiel; two sons, Caleb Respus Phelps Sr., and Admond Phelps Jr.; one sister, Delma Jordan; 23 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and a loving daughter-in-law and sons-in-law.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday by the Pastor Lamar Sentell in Calvary Temple. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, is handling arrangements.
