John Melton ``Mutt'' Dailey Sr., 86, of 650 Carolina Road, died Aug. 31, 1995, in Hillhaven Nursing Home.
He was the retired owner and operator of Dailey's Supermarket, where he worked for 40 years. He was a native of Nansemond County, Va. and was a member of the Suffolk Christian Church. He was also a member of the Baraca Class and served as a Deacon. He was a member of the Nansemond (NU)77 Masonic Lodge, Suffolk Shrine Club, and was an honorary member of the Khedive Temple.
He is survived by his wife, Hattie Cora Joyner Dailey; son, Dan Evans Dailey Sr. of Suffolk; two sisters, Hazel D. Delk of Smithfield, Va. and Louise D. Howell of Virginia Beach; one brother, James Dailey Sr. of Suffolk; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted 3 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. Dr. Bruce A. Havens in Holly Lawn Cemetery, with Masonic Rites. Friends may join the family in the Hill Funeral Home on Sept. 1, 1995, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and at other times in the residence.
