MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER

Police have arrested a 52-year-old Newport News man and charged him with the murder of a woman whose body was found last weekend.

Robert N. Shields was taken into custody late Wednesday, said Bobby Kipper, spokesman for the Newport News Police Department.

Shields is charged with killing 41-year-old Yvonne M. Diggs, whose body was found at 12:15 a.m. Saturday in the 2500 block of Madison Ave.
