I hope that many people in Hampton Roads will write to the governor of Florida to ask him to become involved in the case of Tom Smolka, who was convicted in the murder of his wife, Betty Ann Smolka.
Three appeals-court judges should not decide the outcome of this awful murder case when a jury of 12 people convicted Smolka. The full appeals court or even the Florida Supreme Court should have the final say.
This convicted murderer should not escape his sentence and return to society, as his release will become a burden on his teenage children and will haunt them for the rest of their long lives.
