William David Lash, 76, of the 100 block of Sykes Ave., died Aug. 30, 1995, in his residence.
He was a retired aircraft electrician for the Norfolk Naval Air Station and was born in Lawrence County, Pa. He was the widower of Gertrude S. Lash. He was an avid hunter and a member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the International Order of ODD Fellows. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II.
He is survived by three daughters, Tina S. Stewart of Portsmouth, Linda L. Rigby of Norfolk, and Ann G. Bowen of Carova Beach, N.C.; one sister, Shirley L. Lash of Beaver Co., Pa.; two grandchildren, Jason B. Stewart and Joyce B. Matchunis, both of Portsmouth; and one great-granddaughter, Candace G. Matchunis of Portsmouth.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, by the Rev. Earl Freeland, in Snellings Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family received friends at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and at other times at 106 Sykes Ave., Portsmouth. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Military honors will be accorded at the grave.
