Vallie Sumrell Barwick, 87, of the 7200 block of Granby St., passed away Aug. 31, 1995, in Norfolk.
She was a native of Ayden, N.C., and was a retired schoolteacher for Crossroads Elementary in Norfolk where she worked for 25 years. She was the widow of Floyd Stuart Barwick. She was a member of Ayden Christian Church in Ayden, N.C., where she participated in the Laura Finn Bible Class, and was a former member of Park Place United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the King's Daughters, Bessie Billups Circle.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Susan Barwick and Thomas W. Ingham of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren, Sarah and Matt Ingham; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Ayden Christian Church by the Rev. James Dailey. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, LaGrange, N.C. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ayden Christian Church, 115 W. 2nd St., Ayden, N.C. 28513, or to the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters. The body will be sent from Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, to Farmer Funeral Home in Ayden.
